Material Monday

One of the things (some might say there are too many) I've vowed to do this year is to figure out what I like. I spend hours pouring over Instagram and Pinterest, blogs and books; I know my style, but I can't quite define it. I know I like bold colors, but I also have a soft spot for neutrals. I love metallics but I also die over rattans and jute weaves. I've been putting a lot of thought into branding and what my personal touches are. What colors speak to me? What textures and patterns? I'm all across the board! Which I guess is kind of the point, right? Style is what makes everyone unique, and sometimes throwing a name on it makes it seem more simple than it is. So I decided that I wanted to exercise my style and tap in to that little corner of my design wired brain and maybe help you to define what you like as well! I hope you enjoy these Monday posts, first up:

Cane (n): the hollow, jointed stem of a tall grass, especially bamboo or sugar cane, or the stem of a slender palm such as rattan.
Rattan (n): a naturally renewable palm that grows in the tropical regions of Africa, Asia and Australasia. Rattan continues to be an invaluable part of rural people’s livelihoods in South and Southeast Asia.

On Trend - Hat Displays

I'm gonna be the first to admit that I am by no means a "hat person." It's not even that they don't look good on me, really mediocre at best, but that I'm a definitive creature of habit and I like to keep it simple. Plus, if I've taken the time to blow dry my hair, I'm sure as hell not covering that up. That being said, I'm loving the whole hats for display purposes trend! I myself have been known to hang a cowboy hat or two on my walls, but these wonderful vignettes take this look to a whole different level. Hat game strong!

I'm excited to utilize this trend and make use of the hats I've paid for and never wear. What do you think of these hat display ideas? Will you be filling up your walls with stetsons any time soon?

Two Toned Cabinets

The time has come! Kitchen cabinet painting time! Ever since I caught wind of the two-toned cabinet trend, I've been obsessed. It's a great way to ground a space and make it feel bigger, all at the same time. The question now becomes, what color do I choose for the base? I'll be trying out the Ardex Feather Finish DIY concrete countertops out eventually, so I have to keep that in mind when I choose.
